"Perfect place for relaxation and solitude"

4 of 5

The cabin was cozy especially considering the time of the year we went. Needs better cleaning. Cobwebs in bedroom, tv room. Moved couch to retrieve a ball and found it had not been swept under there for a long time. However if looking for a place to get away from it all this is it! Our dogs loved it too. We would come again.

Manager Response:

Thank you for the compliments and comments suggesting how we can make Edgewater Cabin even better. With these kinds of comments we are able to make the home nicer for our new guests and for our return.

And yes, you are right, this is a great home for guests with dogs. Now that spring has come, the creek is perfect for a nice quiet stay under the redwoods.

Thank you again,
Russian River Getaways

"Fun place, just needs a slight refresh."

3 of 5

Ok, great area, I would give a five star if the following were in place.Edgewater needs:*New bed, one slides to the middle *New toilet, or at least a toilet seat, current one is broke and slides left. Tiny toilet seat for woman or for little fellas.*coffe maker is slower than molasses and looks like it's from a mechanics garage from 1977*circuit breaker lost 1/2 power last day and nightEdgewater rocks*great lot, and amazing trees*ample supply of firewood*love the hot tubWe had a great time in the hot tub, see pics

"Peaceful Serenity"

5 of 5

My girlfriend and I needed to escape the stresses of professional life in LA, and this house was exactly what we needed. It was peaceful and secluded and nestled right into the beautiful redwood forest. It is located 10-20 minutes from incredible hiking, the coastline, and the quaint towns. The house has all the comforts of home and a nice hot tub to relax in. We called a masseuse who came out and set her table up outside, in our private area, under the trees. It was amazing. If you like peaceful serenity in a vacation cabin, stay here.

"Charming, Rustic Cabin, Beautiful Views, Great Location"

5 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed a 3 day off-season stay here where we lounged in the hot tub overlooking the redwoods & strolled with our dog along the riverfront. My husband has never been so relaxed. The cabin is fully equipped, very cozy, & very roomy -- easy to spread out if needed. Hosts are immediately available for any questions. Perfect location for visiting Jenner, local beaches (lots of dog-friendly ones), Guerneville, Duncan Mills, Armstrong Redwoods, and other Sonoma sights. Highly recommend Sophie's Cellars in Duncan Mills for Friday eve. Happy Hour & "Locals" night. So relaxing to sit on the heated patio (also dog-friendly), savor good wine, and chat with friendly residents or tourists while gazing upon a bucolic country view.Cape Fear Diner & Blue Heron restaurants are also good in Duncan Mills, along w/their General Store. Don't miss Cafe Aquatica for great sandwiches (try the fresh crab) in Jenner.Highly recommend Edgewater, can't imagine how any other place could top it, & would love to return. Just an fyi...if arriving in the dark, it's a bit confusing how far to go when first pulling into the driveway. Go all the way to end of the drive to park and discover this special getaway.

"Best vacation I have ever had"

5 of 5

First time in 20 years I actually went somewhere on a vacation. Being able to bring my dog with me made it the best vacation I ever had. I love this cabin and will be saving up to, hopefully, go again. It was very hard to leave. I have to keep looking at the pictures I took to remind myself it wasn't a dream, I really was there.Kim and Bailey

"One of the most enjoyable places we've ever stayed"

5 of 5

I rarely, if ever, write reviews. I couldn't help but write a review for this rental, which my wife and I stayed at last weekend. We're two late-twenty-year-olds with a small dog who like to go on weekend trips to get out of the city. Over the past five years, we've stayed at a bunch of hotels, camp sites, rental homes and resorts. We both agreed that this was one of the most amazing, enjoyable places we've ever stayed. We weren't sure how secluded the rental was from the pictures - but it turned out to be incredibly secluded, which is what we were looking for. It had all the amenities we could hope for - all in the middle of what felt like our own private forest next to a river. I can't say enough great things about this rental. We both hope to come back many more times.

"Our favorite cabin!"

5 of 5

My husband and I love renting cabins and cottages all over California. Edgewater is the only cabin that we've rented more than once! The privacy and serenity are amazing. It's a relatively short drive from San Francisco (about two hours), and a lovely place to get away from the stresses of every day life. The BBQ works very well, we love the jacuzzi under the redwoods, and you can hear the creek from the patio. We love the coziness of the cabin was well. We recently returned for my husband's birthday, per his request. Everything was as lovely as we remembered, and the owners' hospitality was so generous and much appreciated. We will come here again and again, and daydream that it's ours. :-)

Manager Response:

We are honored that experienced vacation rental guests are so happy with Edgewater. I'll definitely pass this compliment on to the owners. Thanks for the review, and we look forward to your return. -Rachel

"Amazing and quite little cabin for the winter"

5 of 5

Loved this cabin and the surroundings. Great place to hide from the city on the the winter and the heater in the bedroom kept us warm.I can see this place will be busy on the summer time. Great nice little cabin and clean! The hot tub was great and situated at the right place.

"Cozy, quiet retreat"

5 of 5

Edgewater Cabin is a perfect cabin if you are looking for a quiet place to rest. The cabin is located away from the street, so there is barely any street noise. It is secluded and nestled under trees, just steps away from austin Creek. The ground is small, but just enough for my dog to sniff around and explore. What I love most about the ground, is the fact that it is away from the street. My dog was able to sniff around off leash (under supervision, of course). We also had a great time walking around the creek. I love this cabin. It was just the kind of place I was looking for, away from the city noise, yet so convenient.

"20th anniversary Getaway"

5 of 5

If you want a getaway weekend that is out in the woods with a rustic feel, than this is your place. The cabin was very clean, the owners were more than accommodating with all the necessities that you could ask for. Great location to visit lots of wineries with the Russian river right next door! Great job goes also to Russian River Getaways with help on things too do!!

Manager Response:

We're so glad you enjoyed Edgewater Cabin for such a special occasion. Please do come back and enjoy the woods, wine and river again soon. -Rachel

"Harmony"

5 of 5

We loved the sweet harmony of this cabin among the redwoods. Inside it was human scale while outside the trees made us humble. The cabin reminded me of a salon from a large sailing vessel. We would absolutely return to the Edgewater. The bathroom door needs to be shaved at the bottom for closing and opening more fully.

Manager Response:

Edgewater is a sweet cabin, and we're so glad you enjoyed it. We'll let the owners know about the door. Please do return soon! -Rachel

"Tranquil Respite for anyone Seeking Solitude, Peace & Quiet"

I loved it at Edgewater. Don't expect fancy, but home is adorable, comfortable and well appointed. (But, take shampoo and bath soap.) Everything was as advertised and in good working order. Full of charm and atmosphere. I hope to go back.

"Relaxing and Refreshing"

4 of 5

I booked the cabin only a few days prior to Labor day weekend and did everything on-line. Russian River Getaways does a great job with the cabin, logistics and keeping the place clean and nicely appointed. Cabin is really quiet except for a small amount of road noise from across the creek-bed, and the Hot Tub heater/filter cycling on and off-neither was an issue and we had a peaceful fun stay. Would book again- ride to River access at Johnson Beach was only 15-20 mins.

Manager Response:

Thanks for the great review. We're glad you enjoyed the cabin and hope you'll be back soon. -Rachel

"Great cabin and awesome staff!!"

5 of 5

This cabin was just what we expected! Great location, secluded cabin, and all the amenities needed for a great weekend. For those people complaining about bugs and minor issues...It's a log cabin!!! If you don't do well seeing bugs and things associated with nature, stay at the Ritz! The hot-tub was a great perk, the location was close to wineries, and the coast was easily accessible. Great stay and well worth it!!!

Manager Response:

Thanks for the bug comments; it's an ongoing trial of living so close to the great outdoors, even for those of us who get to live here. We're glad you enjoyed Edgewater and hope you'll come back soon. -Rachel

"Great small rustic cabin"

We had a great weekend here with our 5 year old. The cabin is small and rustic, but cozy and very well kept. We loved having the river right down the back steps. It felt secluded and our dog had a great time as well! Will definitely return.

"Edgewater a perfect recpite"

5 of 5

The booking procedure was simple and the keyless entry added to the convenience.Edgewater cabin provided all the amenities of home. We so needed to get away from the crowding of the urban world and the heat of arizona. Edgewater was the perfect recpite. Yes! we have to say the chocolate cookies was amazing and the flowers added a sweet welcoming touch. The morning hot tub ritual was a perfect way to begin our day. The kitchen is well equipped, we prepared unfogettable meals and paried it with the wines of Sonoma county. Our Boston terrier Gigi loved the creek she kept begging us to accompany her to play and explore. We did'nt want our stay to end; however, we left relaxed, grounded, and happy knowing that we will be back next year. Thank you Russian River Getaways and to the owner of Edgewater Cabin for a perfect vacation.Thank you!M, J & G

"Nice, cozy cabin in the redwoods"

5 of 5

We had a nice long weekend at the Edgewater. Relaxing, quiet and lovely surroundings. Made full use of the jacuzzi and hammock under the redwoods. This isn't a place to soak up the sun if that is your thing-though the late afternoon sun hits the hammock quite nicely - it is shady and the cabin can be cool but they have a nice wood burning stove to warm it up. No complaints. I would go back for sure and recommend it for anyone looking to stay in a nice, cozy cabin in the redwoods.

"Loved it!!!"

5 of 5

This was great! So easy to book, place was clean, inviting, beautiful location, and we could take our dog! He loved it,too. We loved the privacy as this cabin was away from most others. Loved using the spa amongst the great redwoods, while we played lovely music from the music system in the cabin. Used the TV at night for watching dvd's before bed. Kitchen had everything you needed, and the cookies were waiting on the table! Fresh flowers (real ones!) in all rooms, even the bathroom.Loved the nearby towns, anything you forgot or needed was just a few miles away, and plenty of places to explore for scenery.Check-in/out couldn't be easier. We were able to snag this place by a phone call about 3 days before our vacation, when we didn't have a clue where we were going. We will be back and can't wait!!!

"The perfect relaxed secluded weekend!"

5 of 5

The house was great, clean, and cozy! It was a very quiet secluded location - just great if you want to get away from it all. It lacked sun until the afternoon which we didn't like, but overall - great place

Manager Response:

This is a terrific cabin in the redwoods - hence the limited sun. It's great to go out to the river where it's hot and come back to relax where it's cool. -Rachel, Russian River Getaways

"Relaxing"

4 of 5

We enjoyed the weekend get away. The cabin had all the touches of being at home. The only thing I would have suggested and that's because it was raining and windy so we stayed inside most of our stay, Is a TV in the bedroom so we could have relaxed snuggled under the blankets watching a good movie. Besides from that the cabin is two thumbs ups.!!!

Manager Response:

Edgewater is such a great getaway, and we're so glad you appreciated that, TV in the bedroom or not! -General Manager

"Cozy & perfect!"

5 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed here for New Years Eve and it was such a wonderful time. The cabin is very secluded and surrounded by redwood trees. It is small and the perfect size for two to have a romantic getaway, and we enjoyed keeping warm by the wood-burning stove. We cooked a lot, took walks by the river, and enjoyed the hot tub. We would definitely come back and recommend this cabin to others!Only downside was that it was a little pricey (for us).

"We finally found true love!"

5 of 5

My boyfriend and I were staying at, we like to call it "our" cabin over Thanksgiving. It was our second stay this year. I'm really big on traveling all over the world, but staying here was/is soo satisfying that we don't need to make travel plans for a while. And even when we went to explore the near neighborhood, we realized that Edgewater was the best Cabin of all. Its totally tucked in the woods away from the street but with a view of the creek. It is so cozy, with the fireplace and the hot tub and all, that it's hard to get out and do anything else, but maybe cook. And the kitchen equipment is great for that! I can go on and on but that wouldn't describe it anyway. You just have to go and see yourself!

Manager Response:

This review is so gratifying because I've personally been a lot of places in the world, and I think this house and this location are very special too. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, and we're looking forward to having you back. -rkl

"Excellent place to get away from it all!"

5 of 5

My boyfriend and I wanted a secluded place away from the city, people, and noises. Edgewater was perfect. It is set up for a cozy reading, hot tub, sleeping-in-the-hammock kind of place. The TV situation is not the best because the TV room is located far from the rest of the house, so if you're going away to watch televesion all weekend I wouldn't stay here, but that wasn't what we went for so it was perfect. It's nestled in the Redwoods so offers more shade than sun, but that just meant we could sleep in longer! Goat Beach was just 10 minutes away and there is a great co-op in Guerneville (next to the safeway). We wish we could have stayed longer.

Manager Response:

This is a great getaway cabin, and we're so glad it worked so well for you. -rkl

"Cozy Redwoods Retreat"

5 of 5

This cozy cabin has all the comforts of home, and has many attractive touches. The hammock, hot tub and outside seating overlooking the creek made it a true getaway. Although the location felt remote, (about 3 miles off the main road), it was actually quite convenient, fairly close to shopping and dining and the Duncan Mills General store and just a few miles from the coast. I enjoyed every minute of my stay here.I was unable to get cell phone reception in the area, but the cabin has a land line. It is important to print out and take all attachments - the address of the property and directions to get there are in an e-mail attachments.

"some good/some bad"

2 of 5

I didn't want to post this publicly, but I wrote a letter to the management company when we got back and never heard a response back. This was the second year in a row that we rented austin Creek Cabin from Russian River Getaways. Love the area, the quiet, the creek. The cabin is cute and rustic. This year, however, it was uncomfortably dirty. We crawled into dirty sheets the first night. Got up the next morning and stripped the bed. Had to wash the dishes as we discovered a film on them when making breakfast. Had to sweep the kitchen floor of crud. Had to wash the bathroom rug, sink, shower. I was broken disheartened that the cabin we so loved the year before became a place we had to scrub to feel comfortable. I took a blanket out of the dresser to put on the grimy couch, and the blanket was clearly used as ground cover (dirt, leaves, twigs). We paid too much money for that kind of thing. My understanding is that a cleaning company cleans the cabin between guests. If so, they need to find another company. We will not go back.

Manager Response:

We heard nothing from these guests while they were staying with us or after they left, by phone or in writing. We have tried to contact them with no response. We say all over the paperwork we send when people book that, if there's a problem, they should call us right away. If guests contact us, we take care of the problems. After the fact, we can't verify the problems or fix them. We want every house to be very clean and ready for guests, so we'll correct any problems we find. The bath rug was old and has been replaced. Dishes are washed by guests, and since there was no obvious dirt when she checked them, the cleaner assumed they were clean. The blanket had been put away folded by previous guests so she did not realize it had been used. The sheets were clean but were getting worn, so they have been replaced. We inspected the couch, which is clean and un-stained, so maybe they just didn't like the fabric. -rkl

"Cozy and Romantic - perfect getaway for couple"

5 of 5

We rented this cabin for our First anniv and this place suited best to our needs and desires. This is first ever visit to any cabin and this one surely will stand our best i guess. The is property is very much secluded and cabin is really cozy and the hot tub is perfect in condition. My husband got the tub rash but it worked fine to me .The creek sound is smoothing and all the time is was a romantic and pleasnt experience.Only one concern was the towels are dirty(even though they are washed they have blood like stains)..the rock shaped stones and the little flowers everywhere added to the mood . I definetely am looking forward to rent again next year ..may be this time with friends and family for a different experience.

Manager Response:

This cabin is one of my favorites too! Not sure what the "tub rash" is about. Our tubs are maintained regularly and don't usually have problems unless the guests overuse. In any case, I wish these guests had called about the tub; we could have checked it right away. Also, it was drained and re-filled immediately following this booking so, if there was a problem, it's gone now! The towels have been replaced. -rkl

"Much-needed Relaxation"

5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed spending a rainy weekend in this cozy cabin for my husband's birthday. Even when it wasn't raining, the sound of the creek lulled us to sleep in the comfortable bed. The wood stove and the hot tub kept us warm, and the views of the creek and surrounding redwoods were perfect for rejuvenating our minds and spirits. We plan on returning in the Summer so that we can enjoy the fire pit and BBQ.

"Our New Home away From Home"

5 of 5

My supervisor told me about the Edgewater Cabin and she was one of the first people to stay at it when it opened. It was even better than she described. Although we would enjoy checking out all the other rentals offered by Russian River Getaways, we do so with reluctance, since it was so amazingly private, quiet, and filled with positive memories. It will always be our favorite rental.I would absolutely recommend this cabin to a friend, but I'd rather not. I'd rather be selfish and keep it to ourselves -- especially that hot tub. (Having not grown up in Marin County's hot tub culture of the '70s and '80s, I'd never had the plesure.) This is our home away from home, just our size.

"Beautiful serenity"

5 of 5

We stayed here for three nights and we were so sad to leave on the final morning...the wheels were turning in my mind and I was tryng to devise a way to stay, but alas...work called us back to the city. The cabin is well appointed with most anything you would need. There's a Safeway in Guerneville to stock up on supplies as well. The setting was so beautiful, private and calm. We were surrounded by redwoods and had a stretch of pebble beach on austin Creek all to ourselves. It feels so remote, yet there are neighbors not too far off and plenty to see and do in surrounding Guerneville, Rio Nido and Monte Rio as well as all of the coastal villages. We took full advantage of the fire pit, hot tub, grill and wood burning stove indoors and by the time we left, we were seriously considering finding a way to buy a cabin up there ourselves! We look forward to staying there again- soon I hope!

"Wonderful, relaxing weekend in a secluded cabin"

4 of 5

Thank you RRG for recommending this property. it was secluded and cozy like you said and my girl and I had a great time just dawdling near the creek, chilling in the tub and driving out to see the coast. It was quiet and serene just like I expected. the property was older, but had its charm and deserved to be called a true cabin. I look forward to renting from RRG soon to getaway from all the hubbub in the city. Thanks again!

"our yearly slice of serenity"

5 of 5

Edgewater is a wonderful rustic cabin with all the comforts of home. Its set in a beautiful woodsy area with easy access to the creek. You only have one neighbor and in the three times we have stayed there, we have never seen anyone. Its a fun place for even the smallest dog as it somewhat confined and mostly flat. The firepit & hottub are awesome and provide hours of enjoyment. This is a great place to relax and reconnect.

"Amazing!"

5 of 5

Loved this place! Perfect get away...well stocked, clean, lovely spot by the creek. The main road -- hwy 116 is closer than expected, and from the wonderful fire pit or hammock you can sometimes hear the traffic. Wonderful, relaxing weekend! Thanks! We'll be back. Easy get away from the Bay area.

Manager Response:

Gosh, these guests must have super hearing. Hwy 116 is over three miles from this cabin! The local roads are not heavily traveled.

"Spectacular!"

5 of 5

My husband and I spent Memorial Day weekend (also our aniversarry) at the Edgewater. It was just what the doctor ordered. The privacy and quiant town can't be replicated. The size of the cabin was perfect for the two of us and our two small dogs. We will definately be returning! We've already recommended it to family and friends.

"Edgewater Cabin"

4 of 5

This weekend getaway was a last minute decision between my wife and I and the Russian River staff did an excellent job of accommodating us on short notice. The cabin is really cute and very comfortable. It's located in a great spot that offered privacy and the feeling that we were 'away from it all'. The place was well stocked with firewood and the hot tub was wonderful. We also really enjoyed the outdoor fire pit. We did have some minor difficulties with the access codes on the T.V. for ordering a movie, but that was the only issue the entire weekend. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing, private couples getaway. We will definitely stay there again.

"Edgewater 2010"

5 of 5

The first thing we noticed was when we opened the front door was the HOMEADE chocolate chip cookies on the kitchen table along with a note stating that the fireplace was all ready to use and all we had to do was light he match. And it was also hard to miss the fresh cut flowers not only on the kitchen table but through out the entire cabin. The house was very cute, clean, small but perfect for two!The location could not have been more romantic. The house is so close to the creek that I was constantly asking...is it raining? The view and the sound of the river from your own private jacuzzi is amazing. VERY PRIVATE for those birthday suit goers. The cabin was a weekend spur of the moment idea and it could not have been better. And one of the best things about the whole thing was booking the reservation. Russian River Getaways made it so simple, easy and with one phone call at 11:00am on a Friday I was in my selected house that night. And they are very nice and polite people to do business with. I would recommend this house to anyone that is looking for some peace and quite and plan on using this service in the future.

"great getaway"

4 of 5

This cabin "felt" secluded. It was a great place to relax. The hot tun was great and the fire pit was another added bonus. The bed was very comfy and the bedroom stayed dark so it was easy to sleep! The only thing that could have made it a little better would be a dishwasher, as I would have liked to do the least amount as possible to realx. However, I would definitly go back again.

"Crazy Neighbor"

3 of 5

We had a wonderful stay, but it was slightly marred by a run-in with one of the neighbors (over the river, to the north, chainsaw sculptor). My dog was paddling in the creek, and wandered just north of the river bend. This wild woman ran down the slope screaming at my dog to "Git". As I fetched my dog, a man shouted various insults, including that he's fed up with all the dogs on his property and that next time I'd be picking up a corpse. Firstly, this seems to be a long-running issue that is only hinted at in the notes. Secondly, his property starts at the high-tide mark and not the water.During the weekend, he continued to harangue anyone who came anywhere near his property, seeming to spend all day hiding in the trees waiting to shout at people. Not terribly relaxing.Perhaps the owners can have a quiet chat with the neighbors before something serious happens to a tenants pet. In the least, more warning in the literature could prevent further incidents.

Manager Response:

We have spoken with this neighbor, who was upset because visitors were unknowingly treading on his property. We've had instructions posted at the house for awhile now on staying on the public side of his property line, and we've had no problems since.

"ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL"

5 of 5

Our romantic little getaway at that cabin was to die for. The view from our porch was very relaxing. We are definitley going to do this again very soon, maybe even in the winter sometime for just the weekend. And it was perfect for the 2 of us. The view of the skies at night was hard to see because the trees are so tall but I was able to see the moon peak thru the trees when I was hot tubbing. Yes I would tell everyone I know including family about our stay. Once again I want to thank you and the owners of the cabin for the time of our life and looking foward in seeing you again. Thank You Belinda & Dayle Parrish
