"Classic Russian River Hideaway"

4 of 5

Johnny's Landing is a cozy well appointed cabin in the redwoods overlooking the Russian River. It was a quiet time on the river, the hot tub is small but certainly provided an opportunity to enjoy a relaxing soak under the stars. The location is great for exploring the town of Guerneville on foot and driving to the surrounding locations of Sonoma, Napa and the coast. The staff at Russian River Getaways were very helpful and responded immediately to helping reset the pilot light on the heating system. The cabin interior has a vintage feel. The sofa may have seen better days but I enjoyed it to lounge, relax and sip a local glass of pinot. The leather chairs are solid and comfortable. The fireplace is huge. The walls are seasoned with rich wood tones that make the space seem a bit dark but opening the curtains lets in the light to brighten the space. We enjoyed our quiet and peaceful time at Johnny's Landing and if you are looking for a place to recharge and getaway from the busy world, this is a great place to spend a few days. Looking forward to our next visit to the area. Cheers!

"Nice Little Cabin on the River"

4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Johnnys Landing for 3 nights. The cabin has access to the river and a nice view of the river from the deck with lots of trees for shade. At first when we arrived, the inside of the cabin seemed dark because of the wood panel walls, but when you open the windows, it was very nice. The cabin was equipped with everything, kitchen utensils, appliances etc. The kitchen is very tiny, but we managed just fine. We didnt do too much cooking. The cabin is small, but just right for 2 people and our dog loved it that he could go outside because the yard is fenced. The only critical comment that we have is that we didnt use the kayaks because they were quite dirty and it would have taken some work to clean them up to use. They are outside under the trees so it was understandable that they would get dirty. Maybe they need some kind of cover. Also there were no life jackets provided. The river is very shallow, but life jackets should still be available.

"Johnnys Landing"

4 of 5

Everything was wonderful except the ladder on the dock was broken and it was hard to get in and out of river. Other than that it was easy to book and check out, good directions, beautiful place and I would go again.

"Booking at Johnny's Landing"

3 of 5

The room was a little different in person as compared to the images online. There is no central heating system onsite and it tends to get fairly cold in the evenings, this was a little unpleasant. Other than that the back yard area that takes you down to the Russian River was overgrown with plants/bushes which made it difficult to get down to the river safely. Once you get down to the river there is a big drop and you're unable to get into the water without jumping in... Unfortunately, the water is not quite deep enough to jump into. We were unable to use the river from the rear of the property. Overall, I'll say the place was sufficient, it didn't exceed expectations by any means and was a little pricey for what was offered, although the hot tub was a nice inclusion.

"Nice River Access | Not private"

3 of 5

While there is nice river access during the summer months via 72 steps to an 8' x 8' floating dock, there is not much privacy. (Contracry to other reviews we've read online.)One bedroom window looks out to the street and the others to the neighbors. The living room windows open up to neighbors on both sides. The house on the east side of Johnny's Landing has deck that actually overlooks the deck and hot tub at Johnny's Landing and is less than four feet away.. While we were there, the renters in that house, ncluding their music, could be heard VERY clearly. They also had a dog (his name was Buster, yes that close) that would bark if we made any noise on our own deck!? When we moved to the other side of the yard (on chaises with no cushions, unlike those shown in the photos) there was a bigger dog at that neighbors and it barked as well. So, the most privacy we enjoyed was sitting on the dock, but even there you are very near the neighbors when they are at their own docks. Had it not been for the dock, we probably would have left. It sleeps up to four people, but the only way out of the bedroom is through the bathroom which was akward for us and we're a married couple. If you don't mind hearing others and keeping the curtains drawn, this is actually a nice little place, coveniently located and very charming...tucked under the redwoods.

We enjoyed the privacy and charm of this wonderful little cabin, and especially the outdoor deck overlooking the river. The cabin had everything we needed, and the smell of the evergreens and clean air helped us sleep soundly at night!

"Quiet Log Cabin Pleasure"

4 of 5

This is the second time that we rented Johnny's Landing. It is a sweet cabin, river side with easy access down steps on a steep slope. There is a lovely deck and although the property is in a neighborhood, the home is very private and quiet. Inside the furnishings are simple and functional, the kitchen (for one person) well equipped and the bedroom adequate. The ambiance is "cabin" with the centerpiece being an outstanding, large stone fireplace. The owners have added a futon to the living room. It is comfortable and probably a fine bed for an additional two people. There are several ways that the cabin could be improved. There are 3 chandeliers, but no reading light in the LR. (We brought our own lamp this time.) There was no firewood left for us. Most owners leave a working fireplace set up with kindling and logs for a "first fire". It is a generous and inexpensive way to thank your guests. We missed that. There was no down quilt on the bed and the foam pad on the bed was okay but not great. Again, the bed in any rental costing $250 a night should be outstanding. This is an average bed.All in all though, this is a lovely place and we would definitely consider it again.

Manager Response:

Thanks so much for the good review and sharing your thoughts on the house. We'll make sure the owner sees it. We do welcome you back. -Rachel

"Perfect Setting"

5 of 5

My husband and I needed to get away and relax, somewhere near the water. I came across this wonderful shabby chic cabin at Russian River, right on the river with 2 kayaks. Though the place is small, it had everything you could possibly need including being surrounded by so much to do. We kayaked the river, drove to Fort Ross, explored the vineyards, had delicious seafood in Bodega Bay as well as Guerneville, a fire in the large fireplace at nights. The property management company was wonderful to work with. We will come again!

Manager Response:

Thanks so much for this review. So glad you enjoyed Johnny's and the area and look forward to your return. -Rachel

"An enjoyable and restful getaway."

4 of 5

Perfect little cabin with all the ammenities, a fantastic location leaving one to feel one is away from all the hustle of the city. Only one drawback, the sleeper couch quite unconfortable, other than that no complaints. We 3 generation of women plus one female dog totally enjoyed.

"Charming cabin with direct access to the Russian River."

4 of 5

We stayed for a week in this one bedroom cabin conveniently located in Guerneville,California. The tiny kitchen had everything we needed including a microwave. The small Hotspring spa was great. Gas barbeque was nice to use on warm days. On site parking was easy. Landscaping was lovely. Though we did not bring our dog, it is a pet friendly (with rules) lodging.

"A lovely getaway!"

We lucked out with a beautiful april weekend in the Russian River and Johnny's Landing was the perfect place to stay. It's small, cozy and has everything you need. We spent long evenings hanging out on the deck, enjoying the hot tub and the stars.Thank you!!

"A little slice of Heaven!!"

5 of 5

Thank you Johnny's Landing and Russian River Getaways!! What a blissful three nights we had in your sweet little cabin. Loved the layout, it's well thought out for dog owners. It's fenced all the way around so my beagles, Woody (aka Houdini) and Millie couldn't escape. Loved sitting in the hot tub surrounded by the beautiful redwoods. Also loved the access to the private dock and canoes. A much needed, relaxing retreat after a very trying year!!Well be back!!Karen and Mark from Berkeley Ca.

"Very nice cabin, perfect river location."

4 of 5

We enjoyed our recent week at Johnny's Landing very much. The cabin is adorable, and while small, all of the space is very well used. There is nothing missing. The deck is very large with a great river view, and hot tub is in good shape. We spent hours sitting on the little dock on the river, or the bench swing at the side of the house. My wife and I shared the small bedroom and our 11 year old the sofa bed in the living room. It is a great house for a couple or a couple with one child.

Rented Johnnys Landing for three days. Did not want to leave.Lovely log cabin, just right for a 2 people getaway.Dealing with Russian River Getaways is very easy. I have been very lucky to deal with art, very nice person and very helpful.I would return to Johnnys Landing in a minute,River view, hot tub,the quiteness and the blue jays just made it all that much more special. Thank you Russian River Getaways and the Ownwers of the cabin for sharing.

"Peaceful Setting"

5 of 5

Cabin was very nice, very clean, and everything was very functional. I think it is time to replace the mattress in the room though, it has seen its day. The yard contained our dogs well although they could hop the fence if motivated. We didn't discover it until the last day, but there is a public right of way just to the east of the cabin on the highway, just west of the bridge, that leads down to a nice river area where there is plenty of room for the dogs to swim. Loved the fireplace. Don't expect to access the river when they dock is out - I think the underbrush between the river and cabin could use a clearing out as well so there would be better views of the river but not sure who controls that. Check-in was a breeze. Overall the cabin met all of our expectations!

Manager Response:

Wonderful to hear about your great experience. Come back and visit again soon! -rkl

"Clean, Cozy, and adorable!"

5 of 5

This is my first time renting a vacation house, and I was pleasantly surprised at how clean, orderly, and functional everything was. The cottage is all wood, very well heated in every room, and cozily decorated. The hot tub outside is perfect! It overlooks the river and is surrounded by trees. It sits on a spacious deck with a new set of wooden patio furniture and umbrella. The gated front yard is very spacious, and my dog loved sniffing around the front and out back where we sat in the hot tub. Overall it was a fantastic experience, and the managers were professional, friendly, and reliable!

Manager Response:

Johnny's is a very special home, and we're so glad you appreciated its charms. Please do come back soon. -rkl

"Fun in sonoma county"

4 of 5

It was a great weekend. The trail to the river was rather steep and not very easy to travel. The kitchen was smaller than expected, but we did not really use it much. There were too many don't do this signs.

Manager Response:

Glad these people had a good time. The river access is steep and the kitchen is small, but these things are shown on the website in photos so should have been no surprise. The signs are meant to be helpful. -rkl

"Enjoyed my week on the river *so* much!"

5 of 5

From start to finish, I had a great experience renting Johnny's Landing from Rrgetaways. After browsing their offerings online, I called the office for more information and was guided to this house, which was absolutely perfect for my getaway with my dog. I used the kitchen quite frequently, and the cooking gear was fine for a vacation week. Great BBQ on a lovely deck that overlooks the river. I used the hot tub every day too. My dog and I jumped in the river off the dock, and we also took a paddling trip with Russian River adventures. It's a short drive to the dog-friendly beach at Monte Rio (south of the bridge). We had a lovely, relaxing week and look forward to returning next summer.

"Perfect homebase"

5 of 5

We loved this house on the river. Just close enough to town for short drive or even walk. House itself was very tasteful and endlessly charming. Stairs to the river dock and kayacks were huge plus ... not sure we can ever stay in Guerneville again and not be on the river! We enjoyed entertaining friends at the house and cooking dinner in the small but decent kitchen (normal by NYC standards). We took day trips to several wineries, enjoyed armstrong Woods, Rainbow Cattle Company, Coffee Bazaar and George's Hideaway. We didn't want to leave. In fact, this is exactly the kind of house we'd like to buy in Guerneville. We will visit again.

this is more like a place for a couple. i came down with three friends and the place is very cozy.. unbelievably adorable just small. lets just say, we really got to know each other over our stay.. everything about this place is great, the fireplace, hot tub, tiny kitchen, dock and deck. we loved it! would go again, only with my boyfriend and maybe a day guest or two.

"Cozy cabin, kitchen was disappointing"

3 of 5

This place was neat overall. critiques:We were planning on doing a lot of cooking on our little vacay, but the kitchen was like an efficiency with a dorm-room fridge and all. We really couldn't cook what we wanted in that tiny kitchen. The bedroom was so small, we could barely fit the Pack N Play for our baby without having my husband have to climb over me to get in and out of bed. We didn't have space for our bags in the room at all, so we kept everything in the living room. Not very convenient. The hot tub and ambience were awesome. Very cool. Also, the fenced yard was great for our dog. Overall we were happy, but though the place was a little overpriced for being so tiny.

"Peaceful setting"

4 of 5

Overall the stay was wonderful. There were a few issues, 3 piles of old dog poop that we had to clean up, BBQ didn't work but the office sent a lady over with charcoal & lighter fluid which was very nice service & the neighbors dogs barked allot the first night we were there. I also didn't like the cow hide on the floor in the living room. As an animal lover, that bothered me.I don't think I would rent this particular house again but I would go through Russian River Getaways again & rent another property as their overall service was excellant.

We require that guests clean up after their dogs and our cleaners check for this, but sometimes it gets missed. If these folks had called us, we would have sent someone to pick up the mess for them!

"Perfect Birthday Getaway"

Very rustic and classic cabin. Was a perfect place to relax and enjoy Russian river views. The squirrels and blue jays kept us enternained for hours. The hot tub was just what we needed and the accomodations were perfect. should write a bad review to make sure it is available when we go back, and go back we surely will, but to be fair, we will give someone else a chance enjoy the cabin also. Very dog friendly fenced front yard with easy cleanup. If the cabin ever goes up for sale, give us first notice! We would recommend this place to anyone. RRGetaways is always very accomodating to us and provides great service. Booking online is a breeze. The houses we rent are always clean and kept up well. The area around the Russian river is beautiful and Guerneville is a great place to shop-everyone is always so friendly. Have recommended other people to book with RRGetaways and they have always loved the experience.

"Perfect for two and dog."

We had such a lovely time. It was a great location for two. I'd go back and rent this same property in heartbeat. Tiny Kitchen but otherwise well appointed and WHO CARES about the size of the kitchen when you have such a perfect back deck and a dock on the river to lounge on anyway! Clearly the owners have dogs as there were all kinds of smart ways to contain our dog in more managable spaces.

"Cute Rustic Cabin with modern flawors"

5 of 5

We really enjoyed staying at Johnny's Landing for few days. It is beautiful old redwood log cabin. The deck with the hot-tub, which we used nightly, was just beautiful to watch the stars and the redwoods. We enjoyed having our breakfast and dinners on the deck. The Extra refrigerator was great addition outside. We also would have enjoyed the kayak's, had we had time to use them. We took the little plastic boat out for a ride on the Russian River, but it was too difficult to row with the children's rows (Perhaps next time we would find a adult size wooden rows? :) The Johnny's Landing Log Cabin is ideally located outside of Gurneyville downtown, just a biking distance. It is tuck away for privacy, with river access. The owners of the cabin had added cute useful little things that you might need when away from you home comfort We will be coming back again very soon.Thank you,Taija and Stephen Aguirre & Aalto - He really like the front yard ,

"Great Experience"

5 of 5

My wife and I needed a weekend away really bad - we wanted secluded, nice place with a great outdoors immediately available. We also needed a place where our fast-growing, but still a very much puppy dog could feel comfortable. We got that all in Johnny's Landing cabin: easy river access, very private deck with a hot tab and grill, warm and cozy cabin with a fantastic fire place. If you want to find serenity and comfort, especially if stress level goes out of control, this is the place for you.
